MARCH 30th 2003 - MILBOURNE ST. ANDREW
SOUL : It was clear that it was just gonna be one
of those days. When warming the bike up, we just
had this feeling that the spark plug wasn't a happy
one, but figured that it would be ok for the
practice and then we'd change it for the races.
Unfortunately his engine just stopped as he was
about to go off on the practice laps. He had a new
one put in as quick as possible, but the poor kid
didn't really get a proper feel for the track, as the
bike kept conking out at every other corner. We
stripped, tightened, checked and cleaned most
things on the bike and thankfully the mystery
problem disappeared.
Soul was really fired up for the race and got a
good start, but in turn two he hit a bump and a
sandy dip, which spat him off as the front wheel
dug in. He battled through all of his races, but to
be fair it was hard work out there for the 50's.
He'd get good starts only to lose it shortly after in
the craters and sand dunes - that got worse
through the day. He'd fall off, jump back on and
try and catch up where he could, then pass a few
people, only to get caught out again a few corners
later. He'd try different lines to try and go around
the problem, but the track would still make him
drive through the problem.
Position wise, he had a pretty average day with a
12th, 9th & 10th, and we're currently unsure which
50cc position he finished in, although he's a bit
bummed that it won't be 1st again. His overall
results may not tell the whole story, - or perhaps
they do, but full credit goes out to him as he really
had to work hard out there. Either way, Well done
Soul.
D : How do I make this sound exciting. Well, to get
to the point, I didn't race. It seems that our group
is hot in demand, and I just wasn't quick enough
with signing in for this weekend. I might have
stood a chance of riding, as I was on the reserve
list, but it would have helped if I'd changed the
dam clocks back and been there early, as opposed
to just on time. See, we even tell the truth on this
site. It was probably a good thing that I didn't
race, because Soul had myself and Nikita running
around, and up and down the hills to pick him up
every time he lobbed it. I'm not complaining
though, as it keeps me fit, and to be honest he
made me proud, cus he just got back on and tried
his best.
We're looking forward to the next race at
Bishopstone, well actually I'm not looking forward
to the big ass jumps. In the mean time there's a
few things that I need to mess with on my bike,
but it should hopefully be ready in time. See Ya
out there.
