MAY 25/26TH 2003 - BERE REGIS
SOUL : He really loves these two-day events, and
this was no exception. He was well up for it on
Day 1, but he never really was able to challenge
for the lead, but he gave it his best. Fair play to
Karl Noble #37, who was rippin it up out there. His
bike is just so quick up the hills and on the
straights compared to ours, so hopefully we'll be
having a go at evening that up in the near future.
The clutch is working great, but we just need more
power.
Two days of really good racing is excellent for
gaining more hours in the saddle. It also helps in
the testing aspect, towards when we race there
again in our championship meeting later this year.
Soul is a lot more confident with the Bere Regis
track now, were as before he had his doubts. He
really did give it a good crack this weekend, and it
certainly put his Dunlops to use good use on the
hard conditions. Although he wouldn't admit it, the
tiredness from riding and the heat started to show
by the end of the weekend. None of that mattered
to him though, when he went to collect his trophy
for finishing 2nd overall in the event.
Well done Soul, you really deserved that.

D:: Hurrray! The Van's back. Thank goodness too,
as it was very much needed for this weekend. I
think the highlight of the weekend must have been
the fact that I didn't crash once. Brilliant! That
was only equaled by my first trophy I received for
MX racing. Pretty Cool! Even cooler, I didn't finish
last.
Day one was a damage limitation day, reminding
myself to leave out any heroics and just learn. I
softened the rear a little after the practice, which
made a noticeable difference over the bumps and
landings, but felt I should have had ago at the
front end suspension. I decided not in the end as
by Day two the track had changed both in design
and grip. I just felt I had enough info to take in at
this stage, without messing with something that
might create more questions than I have answers.
I still seem to lack confidence with my front
though. My Dunlops are working great, it's more of
a problem of rider input, timing, and positioning, oh
and possibly suspension set-up. Any advice is
always welcomed, but I am trying my hardest out
there. My jumping improved slightly over the
weekend, but it still feels a bit of a weird
sensation, especially when I spooked myself with a
front end landing in practice. Don't worry, I saved
it but Oh Boy!
I really had a fun weekend, and I felt I learnt a lot
again. I'm still nowhere near the pace of the quick
boys; Parker - Bain et'al, but really, I am trying.
Well done to my little dude for scoring a 2nd
overall. He's another one who's really trying hard,
and he's doing us proud.
See you out there.
