APRIL 13TH 2003 - FOXHOLES BISHOPSTONE
SOUL :.With the new stiffer clutch springs in the
bike, the day was a learning experience for all of
us. After the practice session he said was quite
confident with both the bike and track. In each
race he was getting good starts, but never really
managed to get the right line through the traffic.
In Race one he came home with a steady 8th and
was feeling really satisfied that he did his best out
there. He was fired up in Race Two, pushing up a
place finishing in 7th, again even beating a few of
the KX's home. Although in Race 3, he was feeling
a little worn out from the highly demanding track,
he really tried to go for it. He was even getting
more confident with a little more lift off jumps. He
had a few moments in the loose stony sections
which lost him a couple of places, but he managed
to fight back to a credible 8th, finishing the day
1st 5o cc overall. Excellent!!
The new clutch springs seemed to work really well,
but seemed to almost give him more engine
breaking into a corner. We tried to make this work
to his advantage, because otherwise he was losing
his corner speed, as he now needs to keep the
revs that little bit higher. We'll let him get used to
that, and then hopefully find him some more power
somewhere. Another great job Soul, well done.
D : To get straight to the point, - Thank
goodness I didn't ride again this weekend, because
truth be told, I didn't feel ready for Bishopstone.
The truth be known, me riding this weekend was
low on my priority list. My forks were (thankfully)
not re-sealed in time, as I had put all financial
priority on the upgrades on Soul's bike, not to
mention the Race Van that's temporarily out of
action. Hopefully everything will be sorted in time
for our next meeting at Martinstown. Even though
I got beaten off and run over there last time, I'm
quite looking forward to it. See Ya out there.
