JUNE 8TH 2003 - HENSTRIDGE

SOUL : By the power of Soul's little fingers again, here's what he had to say. - I liked the track. I jumped the 1st jump but wasn't keen on the landings of the other two. I think I am now 2nd in my championship because my bike broke down losing me two races worth of points. My dad tried to fix it but couldn't. He said he thought it was the coil because he checked everything but there was still no spark. I was a bit fed up but I just can't wait until my bike is fixed ready for the next race. I hope Megan is ok and I hope she comes back soon. My dad didn't tell me what happened until the end of the day but by then she was already at hospital.

D: How ironic was that; I had my best day so far, and Soul probably had his worst. For a change I was actually feeling quite confident. It didn't stop the stomach churning on the line though. Does that ever go away? In Race 1 my start was still not really full on, but I still managed to get ahead of a few people, then nipped past a few into the next corner. Cool ! and from that moment on I thought that's it, I've just gotta go for it. So I did.

I'm trying to learn the art of backing it into the corners, so it was also a cool learning experience sliding it out of the corners, but perhaps the most interesting thing that I found was I had heaps of confidence in the front end, the front Dunlop was really digging in. Perhaps it was because of the fresh dirt and grass, instead of the sandy dusty stuff. Perhaps it's an improvement in my positioning, entry speed, angle etc… I haven't quite figured that one out at the moment, but either way, I had a great time out there, felt really comfortable, and strangely less worn out. I think I learnt a lot again out there, I'm still trying to figure all the information out I still have buzzing around my head, but at least it's bringing me another step closer to understanding the How What's & Whys, in order to help appreciate and understand Soul's needs and experiences. After all, as I keep trying to remind people - This is not about me, This is all about him. I've had my time as a kid, now it's their turn, and it's up to me to try my best to make sure both Soul & California get a good start in life.

Until the next one…..
