OUR SPONSORS Part 4

IN-CHAINS and DUNLOP are our agenda for this week,
which is quite simply, the bike and the tyres.

IN-Chains, the suppliers of the HM Baja 50cc, are
predominately dealers of TM and VOR Offroad Motorcycles.
Again, they are a local family run business based at Crow
Arch Lane in Ringwood, that specialise in wide range of
offroad products as well as the BEL-RAY, ACERBIS and
SCOTT USA products that we use. In-Chains also have a
good reputation with their chain & sprockets, and if you
have a part to find or a bike to fix then they're definitely
the people to talk to call.
In-Chains have also contributed with the sponsoring of a
class in the Remedies bar championship. They also field
two extremely talented TM riders, Ben Millward and Terry
House. Taking care of the race bikes and customer bikes,
is the responsibility of Nigel Millward and Darren House,
services of which come well recommended.

The Tyres - or should it be THE tyres. Technically speaking,
Dunlop started out as a family business, with a little
indirect help from a son and his tricycle. In 1888 John Boyd
Dunlop patented and created the first commercially viable
pneumatic tyre. He started production when he opened his
first tyre plant in Dublin in 1889, shortly followed in 1891
by Dunlop's first factory in Birmingham. It wasn't long
before their operations were set up internationally,
including Japan's first ever tyre plant at Kobe.
Over the past century, their success has continued with
both two and four wheels, and they're still one of the
worlds best tyre manufacturers. Their commitment to the
sport is second to none, and their efforts are reflected
when rubber designed for and tested by GP & Superbike
stars, filters down to the tyres we use every day on the
road.
Having grown up in the Midlands, Dunlop is almost part of
my heritage, but on a National level Dunlop are a local
company competing against other European and Japanese
companies. They have a good history and they put a lot of
effort into producing fantastic tyres. They work really well
for us, both on and off the road and would recommend
them whole-heartedly.
Don't forget, should you require any further contact
information you can click onto our Sponsors page or for
further product information you can also click on our
sponsors links located in the vertical column to the right.

OUR SPONSORS Part 3

This week is the turn of LOTUS PRESS and MICHEAL
FRAGARI. Again. These are both family run businesses,
and coincidently, both of the guys involved in these
companies have known and worked with each other for
years, and I've personally known Harry from Lotus for
about 16 years. I'm not sure quite where those years have
gone, but in that time Harry's hard work has seen Lotus
Press grow into a successful printing and stationers
business, with clients ranging from your everyday person,
to nightclubs, restaurants, race teams…. The list goes on.
His dedicated team of staff pride themselves producing top
quality work within the stationary and printing sector.
MICHEAL FRAGARI, also pride themselves with top quality
Leather and Fashions, with their outlet on The High Street
in Blandford, Dorset. Fans of bike racing themselves, they
were only too happy to be a part of Ram Racing for 2003.
Next year they'll be geographically relocating, so we would
like to thank them for their support and wish them all the
best with their plans for the New Year.

OUR SPONSORS Part 2

This week, we'll be taking a look at ADWEAR ONLINE, and
BERT HARKINS RACING - The UK importer of ACERBIS
and SCOTT USA. We could fill a page giving you the history
of Acerbis and Scott, and perhaps you'd be surprised of
how they started in the business. In 1973 whilst working as
a mechanic for the Italian enduro team, Franco Acerbis had
struck a deal with Preston Petty to import Petty Fenders
into Italy. In 1979, Preston discontinued the production of
the fenders but Acerbis found himself starting is own
factory and production and soon also became the market
leaders in plastic fuel tanks. The next story is slightly
different, as In 1958 Ed Scott an accomplished skier from
Idaho, invented a revolutionary tapered aluminium ski pole
and on that success Scott USA was created. It wasn't until
1970 that Scott broke into the motorcycle market with their
range of goggles. Then in 1978 the well known '89 goggle
was introduced which then went on to sell successfully for
years to come.
Helping to continue these success stories is the UK
distributor for these brands Bert Harkins Racing. Bert is no
stranger to the motorcycle industry with a long lasting
career in speedway. Bert started his passion for cycle
speedway in Scotland in the late 50's and went on to be a
world finalist. He continued during the 60's & 70's to ride
for Scotland and in the National leagues, but possibly
gained much of his experience during his time in Australia
racing against greats such as Jim Airey, John Langfield and
Barry Briggs. It was during 1977 that Bert Harkins Racing
was formed, with the importing and distributing high quality
products for the motorcycle industry. Although Bert has
moved on from his racing days, he is still heavily involved
within the motorcycle industry and supplies dealers
nationwide with top quality products. It's these types of
reasons that we use and are happy to promote Acerbis and
Scott. Not only is the kit top quality, it also looks great.
This year we've used and would recommend :-
ACERBIS - Profile Helmet / Small Adult / Black
ACERBIS - Profile Jersey / Junior / Black
ACERBIS - Profile Pants / Junior / Black
ACERBIS - Profile Gloves / Junior / Black
ACERBIS - Pro Soft Junior Elbow Pads
ACERBIS - MX Handguards
SCOTT USA - Voltage MX Goggles / Yellow
SCOTT USA - MX Tearoff System

Finally this week, we will be taking a look at ADWEAR
ONLINE, formerly Adwear Clothing. It was actually Insignia
Signs that recommended Adwear to us, and again we're
really happy that we use and promote their services. Over
recent years, they've worked really hard to build and
promote their local family run business. They have been a
great help to us with producing our team caps and shirts,
and they also did the name & numbers on the back of the
race shirts. Predominantly the core of their business is with
the embroidery of a range of garments from the Staff
Uniforms to the Corporate and Promotional wear. They've
even made it easy for your to choose and order exactly
what you need for you company, with an easy to use
website. Their homepages should answer most of your
questions, then simply click 'on-line shop' which will link
you to pictures to help you make your selection. If you're
thinking of updating your uniforms or need services like
these, then please make Adwearonline.com you first stop.

Should you require any further contact information you can
click onto our Sponsors page or for further product
information you can also click on our sponsors links located
in the vertical column to the right.

OUR SPONSORS Part 1
As the season draws to an end, like to talk a little about
our sponsors and their products and why we believe in
them and use them. Thankfully at this stage of the game
we are able to stick to most our beliefs and principles,
especially with regards to our sponsors. We like it when
people share the same or a greater passion and
commitment as we do for Soul and his racing. It's also
important and all the more worthy when these are local
and/ or family run businesses, and because of that we
believe it adds that personal touch to their fantastic
products and services.
In no particular order, this week we'll be starting with
BEL-RAY provided by MOTOFAX and INSIGNIA SIGNS.
BEL-RAY have been involved within the motorcycling
industry for over 50 years, but it wasn't until the 1970's the
Motorcycle division first ventured into the world of racing.
Initially, they quite literally started things out of the back of
a van, bringing oils and lubricants servicing some of the
top riders and teams of it's times. MOTOFAX - a family run
business from Southampton, Hants, deserve a lot of credit
for all the hard work they put into being the official Bel-Ray
distributors in this country. It was actually both In-Chains
and Crescent Suzuki that highly recommended them to us,
and we'd have to agree that both Motofax and their
Bel-Ray products have played a key role with Souls
motorcycle, and have done a fantastic job. There are still a
few of the Bel-Ray products that we haven't tried yet, but
on the basis that the products we have tried and tested
have worked really well for us we would recommend the
following :-
BEL-RAY
Si-7 2 Stroke Oil
EXL Motor Oil
Foam Filter Oil
Coolant
Brake & Contact Cleaner
Waterproof Grease
Chain lube
Also, recommended to us by Crescent Suzuki for the
Graphics that's used on their race bikes, INSIGNIA SIGNS
certainly stands up to their reputation. Now based in Poole,
Dorset, Insignia Signs specialise in Signs, Sign Boards, Full
Vehicle Graphics, Shop Signage, Illuminated Signs, and
Static signs.
All of our vehicle and race bike graphics have always been
done by Insignia, even before we started racing, and we've
always found the service and quality of the graphics to be
outstanding. They're a nice bunch of people that also share
a passion for two wheels and who again deserve credit for
their hard work, so please be sure to use their services
should you need a sign maker. And of course don't forget
to use Bel-Ray Oils.
Should you require any further contact information you can
click onto our Sponsors page or for further product
information you can also click on our sponsors links located
in the vertical column to the right.
Check back again next week for our next instalment.

FINAL ROUND CANCELLED OVER SAFETY CONCERNS
To the dismay of most of the Hants & Dorset riders,
perhaps their last chance to shine was halted by concerns
of a potential dust problem at the alternate Bere Regis
track. It's almost Ironic in comparison to 2002 where there
was too much rain and plenty of mud. It's not clear yet if
the final round will be re-run at what's supposed to be a
'Fun' last race of the year on 26th October, but we'll let you
know.

With no Race News for you this week or any race photos,
we thought we'd put this one on for the girls. From left to
Right is California Ki-Aries, Alice Monks & Megan Berry.
Check back again soon for our sponsor review, and
hopefully we're almost ready to let you know what we are
up to next year.

NOT SO LONG AT LANGTON LONG

It was another crazy day for Round 14 in the championship
at Langton Long, which saw the day reduced to from three
blocks of racing, to two. With only one more race to go in
the championship, Soul is really pushing it to the max, but
had machine troubles in Race 1, but impressed in Race 2
when he pretty much threw down the gauntlet. Read all
about it in Race News.

FLYING AT FOXHOLES

For the second time this year, it was back to Foxholes
Bishopstone for - unlucky for some Round 13 of the
championship. Thankfully there were few casualties on the
day, which is remarkable at the hard and jumpy track. All
classes demonstrated some fantastic riding out there with
the biggest audience gathering for the Experts. Find out
how Soul got on in Race News.

SO WHATS NEW ?
If you've been following Souls Race News you'll know that
there's nothing more we can really do now as far as power
goes with his bike, so all we can do is help make the other
areas as comfortable as possible for him. He has been
quite insistent that he wanted to try out bigger handle bars.
That has been a problem in the past, because his forks
were quite high in the yokes before and bigger bars would
have required unavailable risers to fit them. The bike itself
is a fairly high one for a little lad, so we didn't really want
to mess with them too much... until now.
The little man has really grown up this year in both size
and attitude, so we thought that it was about time we
raised the front and back for him, but it should also give
him a little bit more stability on the straights. Technically
lengthening the wheel base, he will now lose a bit through
the corners, but lately he's done a good job and
compensated that well, but the good news is that the much
larger 65cc bars really work well for him. Once we found a
good setting that he was happy with, it seemed to inspire
more confidence in all parts of the track.
He should also be able to gain even more confidence with a
fresh pair of DUNLOP's new Front and Rear D756. To
describe them, they are more like a mini version of the
proper 65cc tyres. This being a dedicated front and rear
tyre instead of the old universal Auto tyre that would be
the same both ends. The new front is designed to offer
better stability and cornering grip, where as the new rear is
a slightly fatter tyre than previously, offering good stability
and traction. They work and look great, and would
recommend them to everyone. You can find more
information about them on the DUNLOP website.
In the coming weeks we will be letting you know about our
plans for next year, and where & what Soul will be doing
next year irrespective of whether the championship does
or doesn't work out for him. Some of our sponsors are
already aware of some of our plans for next year, but if
you have any helpful advice or are interested in supporting
or Sponsoring Soul, you're welcome to Contact Us. We will
also be updating the Gallery and adding another page or
two of our little man in action. Also in the closing stages of
the race season we will be looking at our Sponsors and the
products we use, and of course Why? The ultimate answer
to that is that we truly believe that they are the best, for
whatever reason, but they work great for us!
Check back again soon for these updates.

GAME, SET, AND MATCHAMS
It was a close call with the weather, as when it's wet at
Matchams it's really bad. Any other time it's just ruff as
hell! Undulations aside, it's a good solid technical sandy
track, and was a challenge for all that raced there on
Sunday. Soul unfortunately, had a frustrating day, missing
practice with a broken throttle, and in Race 2 suffered a
DNF with sand in his carb. Thanks to Jim Monks and Megan
Berrys dad, for help in getting the bike running with
minutes to spare for Race 3, where unfortunately Soul had
a big off, with the bike landing on his leg, but still
remounted to rescue a as many points possible, on a day
where any title hopes are now probably out of the window.
Thankfully, he was in a really good spirit about the day, he
said with a smile " even when I crashed I was just trying
as hard as I could". Read how he got on in Race News.

NEED TO SELL YOUR BIKE ?

We get a lot of letters at Ram Racing, but we received one
the other day and we thought- Hey! Why don't we put it on
our website for them. So that's exactly what we've done. If
you click on the picture of the Bike 4 Sale above, it will
take you to our new 4 Sale page. You can also access the
page from the new graphic in the links bar. If you're trying
to sell your bike, let us know, and we'll put it on there too.

HIGH FLYIN AT HENSTRIDGE
A slightly re-designed track was enough to give most of the
riders another great race day. It's a shame that some
riders still don't understand what a waved yellow flag
means. With a bike, marshals and medics in the middle of
the track, you'd think that was a good indication that sense
and a slow passing pace was required. Hopefully they'll
learn before any additional injurys occur. Amazingly and
fantastically though, Soul managed to stay on and not
crash at all. Find out how he got on in Race News.

BREAK'IN NEWS
Just to tip the scales, and give the team yet more bad luck;
could it get any worse? Well it did, when some scumbags
broke into the race van, the night before the 2-day event,
rendering the van useless for the weekend. D said "
whatever next ?! We managed to get a hire van late on
Friday, so we left early on Saturday morning, but found out
the following Tuesday that the cost of repair to the van
would excide the value, as they wrecked the rear doors.
So currently we've lost a fortune on the van, especially the
hassle we had and the amount of money we spent on the
thing. We're working on getting something to replace it, but
with the lack of funding for me to race, and the
unavailability of the go faster bits for Souls bike; it pretty
much feels like not much more can go wrong. The seasons
not over yet, and we've not given up, but it'd be nice to
have a bit of Good luck for a change!"

TWO DAYS OF FUN IN THE SUN
Picture this, two days of racing under fantastically clear
blue sky's, in rolling country side within sea view, with a
slight breeze and lots of glorious sunshine. The track was
fast and flowing through the valley and up the hills, one of
which some of the Auto's had big troubles with; Soul
included! Find out how he got on in Race News.

RELOADED AND UPLOADED
We apologise for any inconvenience caused recently with
the website. We have not been able to upload the latest
news, but hopefully everything is now up and running. This
is just another of the many things that seems to be going
wrong for the Team this season, but we're not giving up
that easy, so bring it on.

A BETTER BERE REGIS
A new 'club made' track, created a pleasant change at the
Bere Regis venue. Still with the hills, but without the jumps,
in a fresh felid, the riders were treated to some basic
technical sections, and some nice fast flowing sections.
There was some great racing out there, and unfortunately
a few casualties both on and off the track. Well wishes and
regards go out to those involved, but on an up note, the
congratulations for the day should go out to Alice Monks
No.2 Cadet. Alice is the 'Woman' of the moment, as she's
all of a sudden on a mission, whupping the top boys -
including Soul.
Find out how he got on in Race News.

OUT MATCHED AT MATCHAMS
The pace was almost as hot as the weather, on Sunday at
Matchams. Ben Millward and Terry House made an
appearance in the Expert class, demonstrating some pretty
impressive hard riding, showing us all how it's done. The
Auto riders had a hard days work, battling through the
mounds of muddy sand. Many of the small wheelers found
themselves rolling around in the dirt at some point during
the races, but it was all good experience with the extreme
sandy conditions. Find out how Soul got on in Race News.

5 HOT DATES IN JULY
Coming up this month are 5 hot events not to be missed. If
you're into you knee down action, the British MOTO-GP
comes to Donnington Park, can McWilliams get the V5 into
the top 10 for the strong British crowd. This is shortly
followed by perhaps the biggest crowd pulling event of the
year, when the World Superbikes comes to Brands Hatch.
Will Hodgson take the double, or can Toseland and Walker
take it to the line.
For the off-road and freestyle junkies, the Red Bull X-RAY
Clinic comes to town. The 'Clinic' offers freestyle tips and
training from the likes of Mad Mike Jones, and also includes
ramp construction and course design, not to mention a
team of mechanics on hand to offer help and advice on the
day. This is an event not to be missed as it will be the one
and only time the X-ray clinic comes to the UK. The next
stop is Finland!
It gets better, NASS - The National Adventure Sports
Show, has two events this year being held at Somerset and
Peterborough, with the added bonus of the IFMXF PRO Tour

OH HENSTRIDGE !!
This was the first time the H&D YMC had raced at the new
Henstridge track, but even the arrival of the rain clouds
couldn't dampen the spirits of the riders out there. The
Team did however experience some difficulties, when
Souls day of racing came to a halt with electrical problems
on his bike. Find out what happened in Race News.
Megan Berry, an Auto KX65 rider was not so lucky even
before she reached the first corner. She had 'a moment'
and crashed landing awkwardly and unfortunately for her,
broke her wrist. D said ' I was straight there after she fell
off, and we could see instantly she needed medical
attention. It's a real shame as she's really starting to come
on now with her new bike. Our thoughts and well wishes go
out to her and her family, and we all hope to see Megan
out there again soon'. Thanks to Medics Phil and Lisa for as
always doing a great job out there, and taking good care of
Megan on route to the hospital.

TWO GREAT DAYS AT BERE REGIS
This bank holiday the Team were mixing their stuff up in
the Two-Day event at Bere Regis. Once again, racing went
uninterrupted by the rain, but the dry heat made safety an
issue within the loose dusty sections on Day 1. Many
thanks go to Mr Cummings & Co, for working their nuts of
to prepare and maintain the track throughout the weekend,
and Congratulations to Soul, for finishing the weekend with
a 2nd overall in his class. Find out how the Team got on in
Race News.

News hot off the press this week, is the introduction of the
new DUNLOP D773 for soft terrain.
The D773 is the newest Dunlop motocross trye designed
for ultimate traction in the sand and mud.

amazingly it was another rain free meeting. As always, find

TWO-DAY EVENT RULED OUT DUE TO INJURY
It's cruel but true, that on instructions from Soul's Doctor,
he will not be able to compete at the club challenge this
weekend; May 3rd and 4th. Somehow he's managed to
bruise the lower section of his back, it's puffy and has
spasms. D said, " Soul is absolutely gutted that he can't
race this weekend, as he was well up for it. Perhaps it's
worse that we don't really have clue how he's done it.
Perhaps there are strange forces working against us at the
moment, but we'll battle through and do our best to make
sure he's fighting fit ready for the next Race on May 11th.
The poor kid is really fed up, so roll on the next one".

SUPER FLY GUYS
The weather almost permitted a dry day of racing, but
even the rolling fog couldn't dampen the spirits of the
riders and spectators at the new Martinstown track. The
day saw some good hard riding by all the classes, and of
course the usual suspects Bain and Parker in the adult
class. Commiserations went out to Paul Grubb, when his
engine died right on the flag at the end of Race 2. But all
was not lost when he somehow managed to hang on to his
hard fought 2nd place Find out how Soul got on in Race
News.
MID SUSSEX TWO-DAY EVENT CONFIRMED
This coming weekend the Team will be going to the inter
club challenge, being held at Rusper,Nr Horsham. Racing
will probably start at around 9a.m,but scheduling is still be
confirmed. The Team is really looking forward to the
challenge, as it should be a good event. We'll keep you
posted on how they get on.

SPRING'IN INTO ACTION
This weekends events at Foxholes Bishopstone almost
didn't happen, due to transportation problems, but the very
nice Mr. Parker stepped in and rescued the day.
Incidentally, Alan did it again, taking the Final win of the
day, but it was more a cause for celebration as
Bishopstone is a really jumpy demanding track. Respect to
you Mr. Board Tech Racing!! Read how the team got on in
Race News.
SUN, SAND & SCENERY
The rain held off for another great days racing at sunny
Millbourne St. Andrew. Unfortunately, the Team seemed to
be dogged with technical problems and with oversubscribed
grids, D was unable to race, but Soul gave it his best. Read
how the Team got on in Race News.
WINTEBOURNE STICKLAND
The near perfect conditions made for another great day of
Motocross Racing. With full grids at the scenic sun filled
Winterbourne Stickland track, the riders enjoyed a mixture
of fast flowing corners, and the usual tight and twisty
sections. Take a look at the Race News and find out how
The Team got on.
There have been a few alterations to this years race
schedule. This includes the next meeting now being held at
Millbourne St. Andrew, Dorset, on Sunday March 30th.
Please visit the Calendar page for the new updated
schedule.

2003 IS GO !
The 2003 Hants & Dorset Motocross Season kicked off at
Martinstown this weekend, and although the track was
quite Flinty in places the weather held off, leaving good
conditions for some great Sunday racing. Read how the
Team got on by going to Race News. The Team would also
like to congratulate one of our sponsors Alan Parker of
Board Tech. He scored some solid points with a 2nd in
Race 1, and a 1st in Race 3.

With only one week to go, the Team is finalizing all of it's
preparations for the start of the 2003 Race Season. The
bikes are well prepped, and looking really good. The
ACERBIS and SCOTT Kit looks really cool and have been
Numbered up courtesy of ADWEARCLOTHING.COM . Also
additional graphics for the Bikes and Van, really look the
business, so a big thanks goes out to INSIGNIA SIGNS.
The Team is looking good and feeling great, and are ready
to make an impression in 2003. Make it a date, March 2nd,
Martinstown in Dorset, Hopefully racing starts at 10a.m.,
come and give us a cheer. Visit the Calendar page and
click onto the map link of Martinstown for a general idea of
where we'll be. There are usually little red (HDYMC) flags
on signposts within that area to direct you.
A final big shout goes out to all 'da boyz- Chris Walker,
Hodgeson, Toseland, Heckles and Haydon in there first
WSB race that kicks off also on the 2nd, in Valencia.

It's official, we would like to welcome the support of
BOARD TECH RACING. Alan Parker, of BOARD TECH, a
Specialist with Plaster Board, Ceilings, Partitions & Dry
Lining, has already been straight on the case with assisting
in the final preparations of ensuring the Race Bikes are
ready go. We're pleased at the amount of commitment he's
already demonstrated, and it's comforting to know that he
strives to achieve the same goals as Ram Racing.
Alan will be riding in the Adult 125 class, No.77 on a 2002/3
TM 125. Alan's wife Emma, will also be responsible for the
IN-CHAINS parts van this season, so be sure to have a
look at the products, and remember, if you're riding at the
events, additional parts can be ordered form IN-CHAINS
and taken to the track for your convenience.

The team is really excited about the forthcoming race
season, and is pleased to welcome some new sponsors.
The Team will proudly be wearing new 2003 ACERBIS &
SCOTT Kit, supplied via IN-CHAINS, very gratefully from
BERT HARKINS RACING. The kit looks great, and naturally
I would advise all of you to take a look at the 2003 range.
The Team would also like to welcome MICHAEL FRAGARI,
Leather Fashion and Accessories, of Blandford. If you're in
the area, pop in and take a look around, it smells great in
there. Finally, there's also LOTUS PRESS, of Poole. They're
a long established 'General Printers and Stationers', that
offer very good quality products at competitive prices.
For more information with regards to the above companies,
you can either click on the links on this page or Click onto
the Sponsors page.
Also NEW for 2003, is the introduction of a 'support' Rider
for Soul. As Rider no. 2 - D Ki-Aries, will be riding in the
Adult 125 class and should hopefully provide an extra bit of
encouragement and motivation for Soul. D says " I'm very
much looking forward to the racing, and I know it's not
going to be easy out there, but I'll certainly be giving it
110%. Bring it on!"
